The book reviews online are a boon. So much information is not possible in the print media. Over the net comments in hundreds can be reproduced for the benefit of potential readers. Another aspect that is interesting is the “opening lines” impact on the reader. As it is said first impression is the best impression. The seasoned author never begins his novel on an insipid note. He is careful in using the words. Based on this the reviewer or the reader prepares a mental picture of the storyline. The book reviews are a medium for a reader to get a first hand knowledge about the book and inkling about the contents; what message the author is trying to reach out to the reader and style of presentation. In this fast passed world the reader is always in search of reading material, which conveys a messages tersely. In other words verbiage is know more in fashion as in the past. Old classics written by Charles Dickens, George Elliot’s had the uncanny magic in capturing the readers attention for a long time, because of the language, topics chosen, authenticity, style and the power to present emotions in a very effective way. Authors today do not enjoy the luxury of writing voluminous prose.
